Rampage Studio is a busy place and we love to talk about what we’re up to. Let us bend your ear with all our recent news.
Every year the Rampage team travels to spectacular locations such as Rio de Janeiro, Kuala Lumpur and Shanghai for the Laureus World Sports Awards.
This year we made the trendy city of Berlin our home for a few days for the 2016 award ceremony. Our team of six, including Rampage editors Mar, Matt and Kieron, Rampage director Carlos, IT manager Keith Pang and Production Assistant Diana Ilarde all set off for four days of work in the German capital.
The venue for the event was the iconic Messe Berlin. We were based within the Broadcast centre at Marshall House and our first day of work involved setting up our network, server and four Adobe Premiere edit suites. We also set up an EVS system to allow us to capture and edit in real-time the main international feed of the show straight on Premiere.
With our editing systems set up we decided to venture out in search of food and we soon stumbled across ‘Diener Tattersall’ in the district of Charlottenburg. Expecting to find a Berlin version of a traditional ‘diner’ and after five minutes of perusing the restaurant’s walls, covered in vintage photos of the same man, we were surprised to learn that he was the founder of the restaurant, ex-boxer Franz Diener, for whom the place is named after. We highly recommend the ‘Diener’ if you’re ever in Berlin, for it’s great array of meat dishes, Prussian specialties and Pilsener Schultheiss.
The next three working days were filled with broadcast news, online and VNR edits. The Rampage team worked long hours, but kept the spirits high delivering a huge amount of content to various broadcasters across the World. The awards were attended by a great wide variety of sports stars past and present and have generated a huge amount of international news coverage. Once again a great success for Laureus, which we were proud to be a part of.
